A YOUNGSTER with a talent for playing the piano raised more than £1,000 for Children in Need.
Tom Hammond who is six-years-old went on a mission to see how many pianos he could play in the village of Itchenor and surrounding areas.

He achieved the astonishing feat of 21 pianos in under three hours, he has so far raised £1,029 which could rise as the money is still being counted.

His mum Julia said: "I just cannot believe how much money he has raised. Everyone was just so supportive, all the places he went were so generous with their donations."

Tom started his musical journey at Birdham Primary School where he is a pupil and finished at the Lamb Pub in Itchenor where crowds of people were clapping along with him.

He said: "I played 21 pianos, I thought it was very good. I like playing piano. I got a little keyboard at first and I started to make up tunes."

His list of tunes included the Maple Lead Rag, the Entertainer, and Chopsticks.

Mrs Hammond added: "He never used to get to sleep without listening to classical music from an early age.

"The tunes he comes out with are just unbelieveable, everyone was just gobsmacked."
