The Selsey Centre celebrated a successful first year with an open day welcoming in the community to see what is on offer.
The centre, which cost £1.6m and took nine months to build, was officially opened on April 23 last year and has grown to be an important part of the town.
Coinciding with St George's Day, the public were invited to the centre in Manor Road for its anniversary with a bouncy castle, table tennis, skittles and kurling keeping visitors entertained.
During the evening an exhibition was held in the main hall to showcase all the organisations which use the centre.
Centre manager Mervyn Hall is keen to celebrate the anniversary and St George's Day every year.
He said: "The first year has been tremendous. We have achieved everything we set out to do. We started from nothing and we have gained a very good reputation.
"People who had not been here before came into the centre and saw the facilities we have, like the kurling and the table tennis.
"The community have come to us and we have built up some good relationships, which is really what it is all about.
"Everybody celebrates St Patrick's Day but so few people do anything for St George's Day."
Plans are already in motion to celebrate the second birthday of the centre next year with a possible musical and theatrical performance.
The centre holds a wide range of activities including five a-side football, badminton, business events, weddings and exhibitions.
Adjoining the centre, which is jointly funded by Chichester District Council and Selsey Town Council, is Chichester College's childcare provider, First Steps.
