Inspirational speaker at Helenswood awards evening

CLARE Forbes was the inspirational guest speaker at Helenswood School's awards evening at the White Rock Theatre.
In 2001 Clare was a lively outgoing teenager when she was struck down with meningitis, resulting in a six month coma and the loss of her legs and two fingers.
But she has cheerfully battled on to take part in the London and New York City marathons, the Las Vegas Santa Run and Hike Cuba, raising more than £90,000 for charity.
Clare presented the prizes at last Wednesday's event which featured performances by Helenswood Dance, Sirens, and Helenswood School Orchestra.
Awards were presented for attainment, service, and effort, with special awards for outstanding achievements and sports success.
GCSE certificates were also presented to last year's Year 11 students during the evening.
