FAMILY members came from as far away as Australia to help Miriam Fieldgate celebrate her 100th birthday.
Miriam, a resident of Glenmuir House, in Branksome Road, enjoyed a party in the presence of nieces and nephews last Friday.

The former district nurse has lived at the St Leonards nursing home for the last eight years.

Glenmuir House manager, Nicky Pearce, said: "She is absolutely wonderful. She is partially sighted and very hard of hearing now, but is positive and is deeply religious, so has great faith.

"She is just a lovely person to have here."
