Model maker recreates Hastings' pier

There is one pier in Hastings that is fit-for-purpose -Gary Ballancore's replica model.
Town centre resident Gary, 35, spent 11 months making the model using 180 photographs he'd taken of the pier on trips there with his nine year-old son Jordan.
The keen model-maker, who has also made a matchstick Blackpool Tower and Channel Island ferry, spent his evenings making the pier model using off-cuts of metal - and it also lights up using fibre-optics.
Gary, who works in a light factory, said: "My son loves it, and my friends and family are impressed. Everyone who's seen it says it's really good.
"What happened to the real pier is dreadful. I've been going to the pier since I was my sons age, and it's not changed for the better."
