SOARING fuel costs are blamed for increased fares of East Sussex Rider buses.
The higher fares come into force on Sunday. However, at the same time, the price of Day Explorer tickets will be cut.
Adult single fares will rise by between 10 and 20 pence, although the maximum day return fare remains capped at £5. Child fares remain at half the adult single or return fare. Some individual fares will be adjusted to reflect the rates charged on commercial bus services.
Weekly tickets rise in line with the standard fares, with the Freedom Ticket price increased to £13 per week.
Day Explorer offers unlimited travel on East Sussex Rider services and most other buses in the South East. This one day ticket is available from the bus driver at the new lower price of £5 per adult, £4 per child and £10 for families (up to 2 adults and 2 children).
