THERE has been a fire overnight at the Powdermills Hotel in Battle.
Hotel guests were evacuated from their rooms at 1.30am after an electrical fire.

Guests from 12 rooms in the hotel's pavilion building were woken by fire alarms and led by staff to another part of the hotel where they spent the night.

Six fire engines were at the scene.

They arrived to find smoke pouring from the hotel and used breathing masks to search inside.

The source of the fire was traced to an electrical box.

EDF electricians were called to disconnect the power.

No-one was hurt.
