A young boy and an elderly man were among a group of pedestrians hurt when a speeding driver crashed into a line of parked cars shunting them on to the pavement.
Benjamin Morter, 23, lost control as he drove along Hastings seafront on a summer's day.

He crashed into parked cars forcing them on to the pavement, which was crowded with people walking along the promenade.

Morter, of St Helen's Avenue, who e
arns £28,000 working for his father's plumbing firm, was unhurt in the crash.

Less than a month later he was seen driving while using a mobile phone.
At Lewes Crown Court he admitted dangerous driving and was given a 40-week jail sentence suspended for two years.

He was ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work in the community and must pay £1,500 costs.

He was banned from driving for two years and must take an extended test before getting back his driving licence.

judge Charles Kemp said Morter could so easily have killed someone.
The court heard Morter was driving his dad's Mazda RX8 along the seafront at about 1pm on August 19 last year when he lost control after becoming impatient with the speed the car in front was travelling and shunted parked cars on to the crowded pavement.

Six people were hurt, including a six-year-old boy who was pinned beneath a Vauxhall and needed stitches for his injuries, and a 73-year-old man who suffered grazes to his back.
