The shocking rape and attempted murder took place over ten years ago.
The victim, a 19-year-old Czech student, was sexually assaulted, partially strangled and left for dead in a toilet.
Her terrifying ordeal began after she boarded a Sunday l
unch-time Hastings to London train in January 1998.
The woman, who had been living in this area for three months, was attacked before the train left Tunbridge Wells, but was not discovered until the train reached Orpington on its return journey.
Her injuries were so severe she remained unconscious in intensive care for over a week after her ordeal before being flown home by air ambulance.
She still suffers from long-term effects of the attack.
Following fresh developments a spokesman for British Transport Police told the Observer this week: "We can confirm that we are looking again at the case of attempted murder and serious sexual assault on a 19-year old Czech student in 1998.
"This is as a result of new information.
"This was a very serious attack that left the victim unconscious for some time.
"The case received extensive publicity at the time and despite this, and a BBC Crimewatch appeal, it remained unsolved.
"It is early days in this reopened inquiry, but we will do everything we can to find the person responsible."
