Delays after woman hit by train

A railway station was closed today (Friday) after a woman was hit by a train.

The British Transport Police are on the scene investigating the incident at Burgess Hill station.

A spokesperson for the BTP said: "We can confirm that a woman died after being struck by a train at Burgess Hill rail station today, Friday 21 November.

"The train involved was the 11:47 Littlehampton to Victoria rail service.

"The incident occurred at around 12.40pm and was attended by BTP and the local ambulance service. Police are treating the incident as non-suspicious."

Delays on trains running between Brighton and Three Bridges are expected to last until at least 3pm this afternoon.
