Residents have spotted strange lights floating in the night sky over Ifield.
Spooked Sarah Carter, couldn't believe her eyes when she saw a series of eight flashing orbs blinking in the sky above her home on Saturday January 3 at 9.40pm.

And Sarah was so adamant that she was seeing things she even knocked on her neighbours door to check she wasn't going 'crazy.'

She said: "My partner had just gone outside for a cigarette because we don't smoke inside the house, we always smoke outside.

"It was about 9:40pm. He went into the garden and then he called me out and said he could see strange orange lights hovering in the sky.

"I went to have a look and I couldn't believe my eyes.

"I found it very eerie. There were about eight bright lights just hanging in the sky.

"They seemed to be moving but quite slowly. But they would appear and then fade again, there must have been about 40 altogether.

"They were travelling in the same direction.

"My first thought was it must be UFO's! But then you start to think more rationally and search for a rational explanation.

"Just to make sure we weren't seeing things I ran next door to my neighbour and they came out too and could see them as well.

"I thought oh good I'm not going crazy.

"They must have stayed for about ten to 15 minutes and they seemed to be over towards Langley Green sort of area. They seemed to be quite bright and then fade.

"It was quite scary and I didn't know what to think. I have heard that it could be these oriental lanterns that people sometimes release, but they were very, very bright, and I don't think a lantern could be that bright."
