THUGS broke into a toddlers' playground and smashed up equipment, then returned the next day to finish the job.
Tots were distraught at Our Lady Queen of Heaven pre-school in Langley Green on when they came in last Wednesday morning (November 12) to find their beloved playhouse damaged by vandals.

But minutes after the kids went home that afternoon the yobs returned and destroyed the £450 playhouse completely.

Pre-school supervisor Chris O'Dwyer said: "It's just disgusting and so upsetting. Why would someone do this in their own community?"

The kindergarten, attended by around 60 kids, at St Leonard' Church, Martyrs Avenue, had spent six months saving up for the playhouse, which was only a year old.

"We were just devastated when we came in the morning and saw the playhouse had been damaged, which the children use it every day," Mrs O'Dwyer added.

"They've totally destroyed it now, so they can't play in it at all. It's just a shame for the school and a shame for the community."

Cops are now hunting for the culprits as parents and residents voiced anger over the senseless destruction.

A police spokesman said: "At around 15.30 yesterday (November 12) some males turned up and caused damage to a playhouse at St Leonards Church, Langley Green.

"This followed a similar incident the previous evening. It is now being investigated by police as criminal damage.

"If anyone has information on these incidents contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 quoting serial number 364 on 13/11/08."
