Vandals wreck play area

A GROUP of Copthorne vandals wrecked a fence and smashed glass bottles in a children's play area in what one local councillor has called 'the last straw'.
Chairman of Worth Parish Council Neville Walker condemned the ongoing anti-social actions of the youths and has called for local residents to make a stand by reporting any activities they witness to the police.
He said: "We've had all sorts of problems for months with anti-social behaviour in Copthorne.
"We've had a continuous tale of anti-social behaviour. It seems that youths congregate around the recreation ground on a Saturday night, get inebriated and finish up by smashing bottles all over the place and creating a hazard for the young children that are going to use it."
"We're so concerned about this that we're thinking about offering a reward to anyone who can help us identify and reprimand those responsible."
And Mr Walker said that he thought people were too intimidated by the behaviour to report any of the problems.
