WARNINGS have gone out to Southern Water customers about people claiming to be working on behalf of the firm.
The water company has received complaints that someone is using the name Homeguard and claiming it has business links with Southern Water.

Maria Harrison, press and PR officer for Southern Water, said today (Friday November 14): "Concerns have already been raised with the Financial Services Authority, West Sussex Trading Standards and the Information Commissioner's Office.

"Trading Standards would like to hear directly from customers who are concerned about the activities of Homeguard. They can telephone Trading Standards on 0845 404 0506 with details of their concern.

"If anyone is thinking of taking out insurance cover with any company they should always check whether the company is authorised by the Financial Services Authority to carry out this type of business. This can be confirmed by telephoning the Financial Services Authority (FSA) on 0845 606 1234."
