THE South Downs Joint Committee has come out against a proposed wind turbine on the Downs between Glyndebourne and Ringmer.
It agreed at a meeting on Monday that the 240ft high turbine would have an unacceptable impact on the surrounding countryside.

There would be noise and a loss of tranquillity, and it would cause harm to the natural beauty, character and amenity of that part of the Downs.

And the committee added: 'The proposal is considered not to be an appropriate location for renewable energy development.
'Benefits of the proposal are not considered to outweigh the disbenefits.'

The committee's views will now be passed to Lewes District Council so that its planning committee can consider these, and other, objections.
