Brave stray cat Pearl has just one wish for this Mother’s Day - a loving new homes for her and her three tiny kittens.

The 18-month-old was still very young herself when she was found living on the streets with her three young kittens – Pudding, Pancake and Praline – who are now five weeks old.

All four are being cared for by staff at Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre in Chelwood Gate, after being found in London, and will be ready for rehoming when the kittens are nine weeks old.

Deputy manager of the National Cat Adoption Centre Tania Marsh said: “Poor Pearl would have been very uncomfortable living on the cold streets while heavily pregnant and then with her kittens.

“Had she not been found and handed in to Cats Protection I doubt all the kittens would have survived.

“Pearl is a lovely cat, a very loving mother and really sweet and playful. But now it’s her time to get the pampering she deserves in a warm, safe home with a loving owner.”

Pearl and her kittens are among 120 cats looking for new homes at Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre, where visitors are welcome seven days a week.

As well as the Adoption Centre, the site - in the Ashdown Forest - is also home to the charity’s Visitor Centre with shop and cafe and a beautiful nature trail.

A special Mother’s Day menu will be on offer on Sunday to give cat-loving mums a treat with a choice of a three course lunch at £9.99 per head or afternoon tea for £4.50 a head. All mums in parties which have pre-booked will receive a free jewellery gift.
