Keep party politics out of town council

IN replying to Cllr P Sparks' letter (June 19), I find it really sad that someone should bring party politics in to town council level.

This level of council should not be dominated by any person's political beliefs.

I have always and will continue to work for the people of Uckfield, and to represent my ward in a manner to which I have always represented them.

My own political beliefs have never interfered with my working practice. And nor will it.

I have and will always vote for what's right for our town no matter which political party has made the proposal.

However, I would like to ask Cllr Sparks what he has done for this town apart from turning up for a photo shoot even though he hasn't done anything to warrant being there.

I only hope he comes out of his retirement and does something for the people of Uckfield, something on his own merit and let's see him fight for our rights. Action speaks louder than words.

But let's not start a battle of words. Let's do what we have been elected to do and put the people of Uckfield first, which I have and will continue to do.

It's such a shame he had to lower his standards in such a public manner.

Cllr Louise Eastwood,

Uckfield
