Surprised at plan
I notice that Sutton Corner Service Station in Seaford, has a planning application in to Lewes District Council asking for change of use.
I am surprised that the only concerns that were voiced were the very real problems of parking in such a busy area. Anyone familiar with the corner must be alarmed at there being any more expansion of the service station.
It is a very dangerous set of crossroads. Traffic coming from the Alfriston Road and wanting to cross to the service station and roads behind it, have to risk life and limb and sit in the middle of the busy traffic and wait for a gap so that they can cross.
Traffic coming from the service station to the Leisure centre or the Alfriston road have the problem in the reverse.
Pedestrians have an even worse time. It is a well used area for school children and leisure centre patrons. If you happen to be disabled, push a buggy, use a wheelchair etc. it is very dangerous. I would have thought that it would not be wise to extend the facilities of the service station at all as this would only increase it's useage and create an even busier corner. I hope that LDC do not approve the application.
I went to view plans altering the road layout for the junction but have not seen what the final outcome was of this. Maybe the LDC know more than we do.
