Choosing a care home in and around Eastbourne?
The Eastbourne and District Branch of the Alzheimer's Society is launching Putting Care Right — Your Guide To Choosing A Care Home for those in the district facing decisions about residential care.

Thousands of people will move into a care home in the next 12 months and many of them will have dementia.

The Alzheimer's Society's new pocket-sized guide sets out the essential issues to consider and which questions to ask when selecting a good quality care home for a person with dementia.

Neil Hunt, chief executive of the Alzheimer's Society, said, "Anyone facing difficult decision about care homes will find this new guide can make a real difference.

"There are great care homes that do a fantastic job of providing the highest quality of care.

"Unfortunately we hear terrible stories from a few care homes which can cause heartache and devastation.

"This guide is designed to tell people what makes a good care home and how to spot it straight away. It is a guide no one should be without."

When looking for a care home, people don't know what to look for. The Alzheimer's Society's pocket-sized guide sets out all the things you need to think about and how to ask the right questions.

It is something anyone beginning a search for a care homes will find useful.

Putting Care Right – Your Guide To Choosing A Care Home, follows a recent Alzheimer's Society report revealing the low expectations of the quality of care for people with dementia in care homes.

The leaflet sets out to improve the quality of dementia care by arming people with the information needed to demand better standards from care homes.
