Festival won't damage the environment say organisers

A NEW music festival with an expected 100,000 party-goers won't harm the Downs, according to the event's organisers.
Beachdown Festival at Devils Dyke, Brighton runs from August 22 – 25 and aims to be as carbon neutral as possible.

All recyclable materials will be recycled by organisation, Leave No Trace and shuttle buses will run to and from Brighton.

Car pa
rks at Hickstead Showground wil also be set up and buses will ferry festival goers to the camp sites.

Brighton pubs and restaurants, Pintxo People, The Yeoman, Due South, Indian Summer and the Three Jolly Butchers will be serving food at the event.

Confirmed acts are Jose Gonzalez, Fun Loving Criminals, De La Soul, Roisin Murphy, The Young Knives, Gogol Bordello, The Magic Numbers, Hercules and Love Affair, Nouvelle Vague, Lightspeed Champion, Reverend and the Makers, Terry Callier, Maccabees, The Brakes, Peggy Sue and The Pirates, A Certain Ratio, Amp Fiddler Azymuth, Bonobo, Terry Callier, Alabama 3 (acoustic set), Horace Andy & the Dub Asante, The Beat, Roy Ayers & Bah Samba, Los Albertos, The Heavy Jah Wobble, Fink, Freak Power, Bacalao, The Infadels, Gloria Cycles, The Men They Couldn't Hang, Imperial Leisure, Wayne Hemingway (DJ Set) and Duke Special.
The DJ Line up includes: Special Disco Version feat Pat Mahoney DJ Set (LCD Soundsystem), Don Letts, Jonny Rocks, The Disco Shed, Mr Scruff, Born Bad feat Andy Weatherall, Kidda, Terry Hall, Synths, Decks & Disco from Weirdo Police, Soft Rocks feat Kathy Diamond, Jonny Reggae, Fear of Music Radio presents 20 years of Acid House with Nick the Record & Darren Murphy, Top 100 Ice Cream Van, The Glitter Sisters, Martinis & Bikinis Tent hosted by Fake Bush & Boogaloo Stu and The Kleptones.
