A BATTLE is about to take place at Herstmonceux Castle.
More than 2,000 knights in shining armour will fight it out during a medieval festival.

Siege machines, horses and cannons will join the re-enactors.

A blast of colourful noise is also on schedule with falconry displays, jesters and strolling minstrels Archery and medieval craftmanship will be shown in living history encampments. Skill-at-arms horsemen are also competing for prizes.

Hungry crowds can get their teeth into hog roasts over open fires and enjoy two medieval taverns.

Children will be able to explore the 'kids kingdom.'

The festival runs from 10am to 6pm, August 23 to 25.

Admissions cost: adult £17, oap/Student £16, child (5 to13) £10.

A shuttle bus will be available from Polegate railway station.
