INSPIRED by the success of its summer concert seasons, Uckfield Music Club launches its 2008 series on Thursday May 15 in the lovely setting of St Margaret church, Buxted Park.
It will feature the sparkling young Heath Quartet, who have won plaudits from the Guardian for the 'thrilling conviction' of their playing, and from the Strad Magazine critic as 'one of the most interesting young quartets I have heard in recent years'.

In 2005 against competition from the country's most outstanding young chamber groups they won the prestigious Philharmonia Orchestra/ Martin Musical Scholarship Fund Ensemble Award.

A highly successful debut recital in the Purcell Rooms soon followed.

Abroad they have won top prizes in two competitions – the Nozzek and Terence Weil, and been laureate of the Geneva International String Quartet Competition.

On graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2006, they were awarded the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Prize.

They will play quartets by Brahms, Debussy and Haydn, and the concert begins at 7.30pm. Membership plus three concerts, £21. Tickets on door, £9, students £2, accompanied children free. Contact 01825 712553.
