A DEVELOPER is challenging the decision to refuse its plans for the site of the former Northbrook college in Hurst Road, Horsham.

The Victorian townhouse, which housed the college, was badly damaged in a blaze in July. Emergency services suspected arson as the cause of the blaze.

Three weeks ago the buildings on the site were demolished by contractors.

A Horsham District Council planning committee refused plans for 12 two-bedroom and two three-bedroom flats in October.

Uckfield-based Constantia Estates is now appealing against the ruling to the Planning Inspectorate.

However, Denne Neighbourhood Council said this week that it had been shown a second set of plans which it understood had not yet been officially submitted.
