A LORRY collided with a Henfield bakery yesterday (Wedbesday October 1), damaging brickwork.
The owner of Barnard Bakers in the High Street has expressed his shock after a lorry and trailer exiting Church Street collided with a side window and wall, pulling down brickwork into the road and showering tables in the shop cafe with glass.

The accident happened just before 1pm and Mr Barnard, 48, was in the shop when he heard the noise.

"We heard a loud scraping noise which was this big lorry running along the side of the building coming down Church Street to the High Street.

"It continued scraping the window until it burst and glass shattered into the shop. "When it went it was like a boom."

The window is now boarded up and engineers have declared the building's structure safe so it is business as usual at the shop.
