RINGMER local historian John Kay has asked if anyone can identify this unidentified house - described as ‘house near Lewes’ on an Edwardian postcard.
He says: ‘It looks like a 16th century timber-framed Sussex farmhouse, subdivided by this date into three cottages.
‘The original timber framing has mostly been replaced, or re-faced, by brick and tile. However, if it still survives, the complex chimney, the brick buttresses and the signs of a smoke hatch at one end of the roof ridge should be fairly unmistakable.’
