MUSIC: The Black Cat
PEOPLE In Planes head for Horsham for a date at The Black Cat on Saturday (June 27) on the back of the release of their new single Mayday (M'aidez), on Wind-up Records via ADA Global.
Band publicist Ian Sparkes said: "The introductory rumblings that People In Planes have been causing (including BBC Radio 1, XFM, BBC 6 Music, NME TV and Kerrang! TV), are only matched by those of the new track.
"A dangerous, brooding number, it builds to a crescendo of precision accompanied by a robotic bass line and interlaced guitar riffs. While the track is an anthemic cry for help, it never descends into anarchic noise.
"It is no surprise that these boys from Cardiff are garnering awe-inspiring comparisons to Radiohead, Pearl Jam and Muse. The single comes in advance of their second album Beyond The Horizon, released on July 6.
"The new tracks were not only produced by Matt Squire (Panic at the Disco) and Dan Austin (Doves, Massive Attack), but also in conjunction with Outfit Eleven, longtime collaborators with Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age, and producers of acts such as No Doubt and Josh Homme. Member Natasha Shneider sadly finally succumbed to cancer this year, and it is to her the new album is dedicated."
People in Planes are Gareth Jones (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Peter Roberts (guitar, vocals), Kris Blight (bass), John Maloney (drums) and Ian Russell (keyboard).
