Prince Charles sculpture made from toast
CRUMBS!
An artistic scientist is creating a Prince Charles sculpture from 1,000 pieces of toast to celebrate 80 years of sliced bread.
Richard Robinson, director of Brighton Science Festival, will leave no crumb unturned at Herstmonceux Observatory and Science Centre on September 19.
He said: 'I wanted to create the sculpture as Charles is from the upper crust and he has got loads of dough.
'He is also very well bred.'
It will take the Michelangelo of toast making two days of grilling to get the toast ready.
And he hopes the event will be seen as a chance to celebrate English breakfast generally.
Mr Robinson, a former Spitting Image creator, said this year marked 100 years since teabags and the coffee filter were invented.
And 400 years since people started using forks.
He added: 'I love toast and scour the local markets for the very best marmalade.'
