The exploits of Dick, Jock and Snowy
DICK Barton Special Agent is the spoof play currently being performed by MAD (Meeching Amateur Dramatics) in Newhaven.
It was originally a series on BBC Radio which captivated audiences with the exploits of an upper crust hero and his working class sidekicks, Jock and Snowy.
When Television was in its infancy in 1946, the BBC produced its first radio series called 'Dick Barton Special Agent', which had its airing on the Light Programme for fifteen minutes each weekday evening at 6.45pm.
In its heyday it boasted 15 million listeners within the UK.
The stage play version runs from January 9 until January 17.
Performances are at 7.45pm in Meeching Hall, Fort Road, Newhaven.
Tickets cost 7 and are available from Meeching Estate Agents, High Street, Newhaven.
