The Sussex Archaeological Society, based in Lewes, has interesting finds, found in the ground, brought into its offices all the time.

This mystery object has been dubbed Fantastic Mr Fox.

Finds Officer Stephanie Smith believes it might be a 12th to 16th century harness pendant or belt mount with the face of a fox moulded in high relief.

Objects decorated with foxes were quite common in those days.
