Les Enfants Terribles come to Guildford’s The Electric Theatre on Friday, July 8 with the deeply-dark comedy The Infant.
Spokeswoman Caroline Bennett said: “War, paranoia and the meaning of the truth are themes in this bitingly-brilliant absurdist drama from the multi award-winning company. Regular darlings of audiences and critics alike at the Edinburgh Fringe, and fresh from a hugely-successful London run, catch them if you can for one night only at The Electric Theatre as part of their UK tour.
“This inky-black piece of theatre centres around a suspect tied to a chair. The captors have a picture that could spell the destruction of civilized society; a plan so devastating it would change the world as we know it. The only problem is the suspect claims the picture was drawn by his four year old son. They have the suspect’s wife, but she claims her son couldn’t have made the picture. Who’s telling the truth? What is the truth and does the truth really matter?”
Founder and Artistic Director Oliver Lansley and fellow company member Tom Gisby were both members of the Surrey Youth Theatre. The Company produces all its own work and the script for The Infant has been penned by Lansley. Aside from working with Les Enfants, he is a published playwright and also works extensively in television most recently co-creating/writing BBC2’s Whites starring Alan Davies and Katherine Parkinson.
