Don’t forget Queen sounds on stage
Bohemian Rhapsody, Congress Theatre, Eastbourne
ONE of the best shows ever to grace the stage at Eastbourne’s Congress Theatre is on until Saturday 14th July.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a spectacular tribute to one of the most popular bands of all time Queen. This is not a musical where someone has scripted a story slotting in the music of Queen, like Mama Mia did with Abba’s music. This is two hours of Queen music in concert by eight of the most talented singers around, backed by four equally talented dancers and a superb band.
Singers include former G4 member Jonathan Ansell, Simon Bowman who created the role of Chris in the original London production of Miss Saigon, Andrew Derbyshire who was in the original West End production of the other Queen musical We Will Rock You and tenor Duncan Heather who has played in musicals all over the world.
The girls, two of whom are Australian, have also appeared in numerous musicals and all the cast have superb voices. Jonathan Ansell brought the house down at the end of the first act with his rendition of Barcelona and at the end of the show the entire audience was on their feet singing along to We Are The Champions.
This is a feelgood show where you cannot help leaving feeling happy. Catch it if you can.
