INSURANCE broker Alf Bodimeade is proving a premium quality fundraiser for a charity.
The amount he has raised each year for the Motor Neurone Disease Association has soared ten-fold in about six years.
In the last few years Alf, 67, from Lindfield, has teamed up with City pals to raise thousands of pounds for the Motor Neurone
Disease Association by running quizzes in a London bar. Alf's first fundraiser brought in £890, and his latest one in April raised £10,700.
Alf, now working part-time, is bringing his talents nearer home for the charity next month.
He is compiling and will act as quiz master for a quiz night at the social club at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
Alf said: "About seven years ago they talked me into becoming treasurer but I'd never been involved in organising a local quiz.
"I took over last year at the social club when my pal, who was due to be quiz master, fell ill. This year I have devised the quiz as well."
He recognises the serious purpose behind the light-hearted quiz sessions because of the need to help people deal with the bleak prospect of facing Motor Neurone Disease.
The session on October 4 at 7.30pm will be made up of teams of four to six people.
It costs £10 a person including fish and chips supper. Tickets from Carol Rieley on 01444 482387.
