Carnival atmosphere for Hurstpierpoint villagers

VILLAGERS will be able to fly the flag for the big events in Hurstpierpoint's calendar and create a carnival atmosphere with colourful bunting from now on.
New brackets to hang banners and bunting have been put up on buildings along the High Street to replace the old ones that have rusted away or been removed over the years.
The £400 project has been paid for by Hurstpierpoint Society and is part of a joint initiative by village organisations in conjunction with the parish council.
The first banner on the new fixings will be one advertising the forthcoming Hurst Festival, which starts on Saturday September 13.
The village groups backing the move included Hurstpierpoint Society, which has agreed to pay the cost, the St Lawrence Fair Committee, the Festival and Hurst Players.
Anyone wishing to use them to hang bunting or banners should contact the parish council and agree to a set of guidelines which will include the weight of any banner.
