A YOUNG family is angry with Moat Homes Ltd after their dream home turned into a nightmare.
Phillip Hardaway and his wife Jenny moved into their house in Meadow View, Sayers Common, last year but they soon discovered faults with their property, including a leak under the kitchen sink.
The leak continued to get worse and when the family woke up one morning the downstairs was flooded.
Mr and Mrs Hardaway claim that the problem should have been fixed by Moat who is responsible with faults during the first 12 months of them moving in.
However, the housing association says they will only pay £100 towards the cost of the £3,000 worth of damage.
Sales manager Mr Hardaway, 25, said: "My wife and I have been together since we were 16 and have dreamed of one day owning our own house.
"Unfortunately we noticed defects soon after we moved in and reported them straight away.
"It took Moat months to get any work done on our house and today we have defects which we reported in July 2007 that are yet to be fixed."
Terry Phillips, senior development manager of Moat, said: "We sympathise with the issues Mr Hardaway is having with his new home. We are fully investigating the situation and will be working with him to resolve any outstanding matters."
