Homes to be built on brothel site

RESIDENTS in Scaynes Hill are celebrating after councillors approved plans for luxury homes to be built on a former brothel site.
At a meeting of the Mid Sussex District Council planning committee last Thursday, councillors and residents supported the plans for a Swedish developer to build four homes at Hamshaw in Sloop Lane.
The Scandia Hus detached homes, with five or six bedrooms, will replace a large club house, out buildings and a car park.
District and Lindfield parish councillor Margaret Hersey said: "It comes as a great relief to a lot of people and I can see no reason for anybody finding fault with it."
The site was previously a club which posed as a swingers club. However, residents were determined to expose the true nature of the club and hired a private investigator to enter the premises, where prostitutes were found to be working.
