ORGANISERS of the fifth annual St Peter & St James Hospice Fun Run or Walk are hoping the event will top the £20,000 mark for the first time.
The event, which takes in five and a half miles of beautiful Sussex countryside, has raised more than £40,000 for the hospice over the past four years and fundraisers are hoping that this year's run, held on Sunday, September 21, will be the biggest yet.
Rosie Wyer, community fundraiser at the hospice, said: "Last year 400 entrants raised more than £17,000, this year we would love to have 500 people take part and break the £20,000 mark."
The event starts and finishes at the hospice in North Chailey. As well as the adults' run or walk, there is a three-quarter mile junior fun run for 12-year-olds and under.
All entrants who raise more than £50 in sponsorship and all junior fun runners will receive a free specially designed event T-shirt and there will also be prizes for the best fancy dress costumes. Entry, in advance, costs £9 for adults and over 12s, £3 for 12-year-olds and under, and £18 for a family of two adults and two children of 12 or under.
Entry on the day costs £10 for adults and over 12s, £4 for 12-year-olds and under, and £20 for a family. Start times are from 10am for walkers, 11am for runners and 11.10am for the junior fun run. Team entries are welcome. Places are available now and team entries are welcome.
