Herstmonceux Free Church celebrated the 200th anniversary of its chapel in Church Row with a special service and an exhibition showing the past and current life of the church.

The church held a number of events over the past few months to mark the anniversary and has recorded its history in a book written by parishioner Judith Kinnison-Bourke.

The special celebration weekend included a service attended by 70 people. And churchgoers dressed up in 19th century style to welcome visitors to the exhibition showing the history of the church.

Among those who attended the celebrations were members of the Pursglove family whose great-great-great grandfather bought the land on which the church stands in 1811 and paid for the construction of the building.
