STAFF and students have been evacuated after a suspected unexploded bomb was discovered.
At around 11.40am today (Wednesday) people were evacuated from campus buildings at University of Brighton at Falmer after construction workers found what is thought to be a Second World War bomb.

Police have been called to the scene and have set up a 100 metre cordon around the area.

The suspected bomb is believed to be 12 inches long and four inches in diameter and was found near to the library.

Phil Walsh, an admin support worker at the university, said: 'It looks like all of the buildings have been evacuated.

'Everyone is in good spirits, some people are anxious about missing appointments but I think most people are just enjoying the sun.'

Police officers are currently assessing the situation and are expected to decided whether or not to call in bomb disposal experts.
