LEWES RAID: Raider threatens to shoot have-a-go hero

PEOPLE gave chase after a gang of raiders smashed their way into a jewellers.
Four crooks with sledgehammers struck at around 3.40pm today (Thursday) at W E Clark and Son, Cliffe High Street, Lewes.

The gang all wore green jumpsuits and balaclavas.

As the crooks fled the shop a passer-by grabbed the keys from the thieves' getaway car.

The gang fled down Cliffe High Street towards South Street with five members of the public in pursuit.

As the gang ran, one threatened to shoot his pursuers.

The robbers jumped into a car near the Snowdrop pub and made off.

Police are currently apprehending suspects.
