BOG standard public toilets need sprucing up.
That was the view of town councillors and residents at Hailsham's annual meeting.

Toilets in Vicarage Fields are currently owned by Wealden District Council.

Ownership is transferring to the town council in the next year.
The Mayor, Cllr Nick Ellwood, said: 'There is stained urine embedded into the back of the toilets.

'That is a problem as you can't get it out of the brick work.'
After the meeting, Mike Pashler, Wealden head of waste and commercial services, told the Express the toilets were inspected every day.

He said: 'Vicarage Fields toilets are cleaned twice a day but they tend to get a lot of use and misuse.

'Any graffiti of a pornographic nature is dealt with straight away.

'We have had a problem of people stealing locks from the cubicles.

'These are replaced but it may sometimes take a week.'
