Police warning after heating oil theft

Heating oil worth £1,500 was stolen.
Up to 2,000 litres was taken from a tank the garden of a house in Plumpton Green.

PCSO Julie Whittaker-Jones said: 'Given the increasing value of heating oil sitting in our tanks, it is not surprising to find that heating oil thefts are on the rise across the country.'

She advised people to keep tanks in a locked building out of sight and to keep levels low with small regualar deliveries.

She also warned people to check oil was covered by their home insurance policy.
