A RESTORED Victorian pond will be officially opened at the Lewes Railway Land nature reserve Trust on Saturday.
Young volunteers from nature reserve's Junior Management Board have restored the Leighside Pond which is in the woodland area of the popular nature reserve.

The pond has been returned to its former glory after a year of hard work and the help of a £23,000 grant from the Young Roots Heritage Lottery Fund.

A film which celebrates the work of young volunteers at the reserve will also be premiered.

Since its formation in 1996 more than 30 young people from the local area have worked on the Junior Management board and the film will showcase their achievements.

The four current members of the board will be joined by TV weather-girl Kaddy-Lee Preston for the official opening of the Leighside Pond at 11am and the film will be shown at a specially erected marquee near the Railway Lane entrance to the reserve.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.
