Shoppers thronged to the town centre on Saturday (December 13) and were treated to a full programme of entertainment and street acts.
The entertainment was organised by Roger Crouch, funded by the Hastings Town Centre Market, Costa Coffee and Hastings Town Centre Partnership and supported by Priory Meadow Shopping Centre.
Lesley Davis, chairman of the Town Centre Market company, said: “We wanted to hold a family event to say thank you to local people for supporting the market and town centre in 2014. People came out in numbers and the atmosphere all over the town centre was great.”
In addition to children’s rides and a market, street acts included a fire juggler, stilt-walking Ice Queen, five different music performances and traditional Punch and Judy shows. The highlight was a procession from the ice rink in Queens Square through the town centre, led by a team of huskies and the Cinque Ports Corps of Drums.
Rob Woods, town centre manager, said: “It was a chilly day but thankfully the rain held off. It was satisfying to see so many families enjoying themselves and using the local market and businesses. It turned into one of those great Hastings days with smiles etched on visitors’ faces and traders reporting brisk business and a very successful day.”
