BEING single in Lewes need not mean getting out and about on your own.

The Group, for people aged 45-plus, is launching in Lewes with meetings once a month.

It’s not a dating agency or a marriage bureau but a chance to find out all the enjoyable things to do around the town and where to find them.

Then there are lots of members of The Group you can go along with.

The Group has been operating in Sussex for six years and meets in pubs in Brighton, Haywards Heath, Worthing and Horsham.

As well as the club nights there are theatre trips, walks, parties, sport, dancing, dinners, gallery visits and holidays.

There’s plenty to keep you busy whatever spare time you have and however often you need company.

Co-founder Tricia Bentley said: “Once a person has been along to a club night and become a member of The Group, they receive a diary twice a month by email and they just have to contact the organiser of the events they want to attend.

“The members organise the events. That way we get really good variety in the things we do.

“Our members have told us they would like to have a venue in Lewes and so we are delighted to be opening there in September.”

The Lewes meeting will be on the first Tuesday evening of the month, starting from fourth September.
