Another record beating year for GCSEs at Tideway School in Newhaven

For the third time in the last four years Tideway School in Newhaven has recorded its best ever headline rate of 51 per cent of students achieving five A* to C grades with English and maths.

Head teacher Rob Corbett said: “I am delighted to tell you that the school achieved excellent exam results this year.

“For the third time in the last four years we have our highest ever headline rate of 51 per cent five A* to C with English and maths. “The figure for five A* to C of 76 per cent is the highest ever for the fifth year in a row.

“Our GCSE English results were the highest ever at the school at 67 per cent and the proportion making three or more levels progress was an astonishing 83 per cent.

“Maths continues to improve year on year with an excellent 65 per cent A* to C and 70 per cent three levels progress.

“I would also like to congratulate drama for an impressive 77 per cent A* to C outcome.”
