The East Dean and Friston Local History Group will be holding an exhibition of its archives in the large Village Hall at Village Green Lane, East Dean, entitled ‘Photographic Memories.’
The event will take place on September 14, from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
The exhibition will include hundreds of local photographs, maps, old directories and other artefacts, including pieces of Iron Age and Roman pottery found in the villages.
Local historians will be there to answer questions on a wide range of topics. There will be a sales table where the History Group’s publications can be bought.
Additionally local metal detecting clubs will display some of their best local finds and the Siegfried Sassoon Society will have an exhibition of the WW1 poet’s life in Kent and Sussex.
The exhibition will be open to anyone who would like to come along at a charge of £3 (free to members of the group).
Organisers said there is plenty of parking in the adjacent village car park and teas, coffees, light lunches and cakes will also be available.
Catering will be by the “Beehive on the Green” Delicatessen.
