A driver was arrested after travelling the wrong way for five miles along the A27 on Wednesday April 2.
Sussex Police said the car was stopped by a police officer near Kingston roundabout at Lewes after the driver, aged 74, drove eastbound on the westbound carriageway at Falmer from 6.40am.
Numerous calls were received about the driver in a grey Vauxhall Antara after they had to swerve to avoid him. No one was injured. The driver from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and then released on bail until 22 May.
