A man has been arrested following an alleged assault in Eastbourne town centre.

At about 12.53pm on Wednesday (August 3), police received a report that a man had been pushed to the ground in Tideswell Road.

Polcie say the victim, an 83-year-old man from Seaford, suffered injuries to his face, right arm and right leg, and was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

A 46-year-old man from Eastbourne, arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and possessing an offensive weapon in public, has been bailed to November 8 pending further enquiries.
