A BRIGHT IDEA to put artistic exhibitions in empty show windows along Hailsham High Street until the retail units are rented to new businesses will boost the town’s reputation on the county arts scene.
Hailsham town councillors and volunteers tidied up the vacant retail units earlier this month and installed artistic works in the shops.
Discussions were held between Hailsham Town Council, commercial letting agents and empty shop owners.
It was agreed that in return for tidying up empty shop units, displays from local artists could be allowed in shop windows until the units are successfully let.
The displays will complement the Hailsham Arts Festival which begins this Friday, September 9.
