Battle Choral Society is well into rehearsals for its next concert on Saturday, May 16 at Christ Church, St Leonards, at 7.30pm.
The first half will be Wagner music starting with the orchestra playing the Siegfried Idyll, followed by one of our well-established soloists Jessica Leschnikoff, Soprano, singing the beautiful Wesendonck Lieder, accompanied by the orchestra under the direction of our Musical Director John Langridge.
After the interval, the choir will be singing Bruckner’s Mass in E flat minor. This was the last of the masses that Bruckner wrote, and it is full of his inimitable harmonies and wonderful richness. If you attended our concert last November and were amazed by Mozart, then you will be brightened by this Bruckner.
All in all the concert, while presenting possibly less familiar works, will be a feast for musical ears full of absolutely glorious music.
Tickets are now available on line by going to the website www.battlechoral.co.uk and following the links. Otherwise they are being sold at the usual places – Raggs Boutique Battle, and Little Larder, St Leonards. Or telephone 01424 845219.
